About Me

My name is Sophie, and I’m a journalist-in-training. I am an East Tennessee native originally from Johnson City, Tennessee. I’m currently located in Knoxville, Tennessee and attending the University of Tennessee where I study, you guessed it, journalism. My focuses are radio broadcast and magazine/digital writing.

I currently serve as news director for the UT campus radio station, WUTK 90.3 FM. I spend most of my time at the news desk preparing for one of our ten newscasts per week, or out recruiting more people for our tiny-but-mighty news department. This work is hopefully preparation for my future job in public radio.

In my spare time, I enjoy creative writing, reading blog and op-eds, Instagram, volunteering with children, travelling, and public radio podcasts.
