About Me

My name is Sophie, and I’m a journalist-in-training. I am an East Tennessee native originally from Johnson City, Tennessee. I am currently located in Knoxville, Tennessee and attending the University of Tennessee where I study, you guessed it, journalism. My focuses are radio broadcast and magazine/digital writing.

I am currently serving as a staff writer for UT’s campus news website, The Tennessee Journalist. In the past, I have served as news director for our campus station, WUTK the Rock, and as a summer news intern for the local NPR affiliate, WUOT.

In my spare time, I enjoy creative writing, reading blog and op-eds, Instagram, volunteering with children, travelling, and public radio podcasts.
